If the answers to any those questions is YES, then you are invited to become a Congregational Health Promoter!
A two half-day course is being offered through Centra’s Pastoral Care Department Congregational Health Program July 15th and 22nd. The course will begin Saturday morning and go through the early afternoon from 10:00am-2:00pm at Bedford Memorial Hospital. The course is free, and you must attend both sessions. The classes and care you will provide are done as a volunteer in your community.
Some of the topics you will learn about are community resources, healthy nutrition, exercise, chronic disease management (heart failure, diabetes, high blood pressure, and Stroke), disaster preparedness, emergency care, and end of life care.
At the end of the two days you will graduate and receive a certificate as a Congregational Health Promoter. You can be the encouragement that could change someone’s life just by listening or sharing good nutrition tips or helping them find a doctor. Upon graduation, you may be surprised at the opportunities to share and use your skills as a Congregational Health Promoter.
