Bedford Community Health Foundation’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund

The Board of Trustees of the Bedford Community Health Foundation has created an Emergency Fund in response to the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic.

The pandemic has impacted almost every aspect of our lives. According the Virginia Employment Commission, unemployment claims in Bedford County tripled from March 21 (258 claims) to March 28 (797 claims). This has caused an increased need for resources such as rent/utility assistance, food, mental health services, prescription assistance as well as many others. Seniors and those with underlying health conditions are alsoimpacted by the quarantine. They will also need additional support to maintain theirhealth and wellness.

The Bedford Community Health Foundation’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund has been established to help non-profit agencies and organizations respond to our community’s needs. Agencies can apply for funds that address the needs brought on by the pandemic.

The fund will begin with $25,000 available. BCHF would like to encourage individuals and businesses to donate to thefund, as this will be a long recovery period for many.

If you or your business would like to assist, you can donate on-line by going to www.healthybedford.org or by mail to: BCHF, P.O. Box 1104, Bedford, VA 24523.
